Introduction

This page contains a digital copy of Westcott and Hort's Greek New Testament with Punctuation, Accents, Morphology, and Lemmas. Hundreds of hours of work editing this manuscript have been spent for this work to be digitized. The present work is based upon the work done by Dr. Maurice A. Robinson. He deserves the bulk of the credit for not only transcribing the text, but also producing the morphology. The only thing lacking from his original text is accentuation and punctuation. The work by Ulrik Sandborg-Petersen in creating his edition of Tischendorf's 8th Edition was used not only for the accents and punctuation, but also for the lemma table used in the morphology. His work in turn was based upon Dr. Robinson's work and also G. Clint Yale's Tischendorf text. Many thanks are due to both Maurice and Ulrik, both of whom were very helpful in not only providing their respective texts to the public domain, but also in personal correspondance.

My primary task was to add the accents and punctuation to Dr. Robinson's original text. He had begun the work of adding these in a new version of his text which he kindly provided to me, but the work is very slow and his many responsibilities prevented him from spending much time on his text. So I wrote a series of programs to match up the words from the Tishendorf text to the Westcott and Hort text and copy the accents and punctuation over. I then wrote various programs to check the resulting text and looked up the various errors in a hard copy of Westcott and Hort. Finally, I obtained permission from Dr. Mark House from Hendrickson publishers to use their Westcott and Hort text for correction purposes. Every discrepancy between the two texts was looked up by hand, and as a result both texts are of higher quality. The high quality of this text is due to his/their graciousness.

Thanks is also due to Kyle Davis who I employed to look up and check the bulk of the discrepancies by hand. This was painstaking work (as anyone knows who has edited/corrected a text), and I would not have been able to finish the work in a timely manner apart from his help.

I'm sure there are errors in the resulting text. Due to many checks of the text, I'm convinced that text itself is of high quality. Due to the process involved, it is more likely that there were errors in attaching the lemmas and morphology to the text. If any errors are found, please contact me.

May this text be used to further knowledge of God in Christ through His Word.
